Production scheduling in minutes, not hours
A chemicals plant with more than a hundred product grades re-plans its production in one to ten minutes instead of two to six hours, in daily use. Delivered through our platform network with classical optimisation solvers.
Impact
The problem
Rebuilding the production schedule across grades, changeovers, due dates and capacity took the planning team two to six hours in spreadsheets. By the time the plan was ready, the shift it was made for had moved on.
Our approach
The plant’s grades, changeover rules, orders and capacity were written as one constrained scheduling model and solved with the classical optimisation solvers in our platform network, with the check of the plan included in the run time. No quantum hardware was used, and the page says so.
The evidence
- Planning time about 6 h → about 1 min as published; the customer interview gives the range 2–6 h → 1–10 min including the check of the plan. Baseline: the plant’s prior manual and spreadsheet planning.
- Classical optimisation solvers on the platform; no quantum hardware. In production use.
- Not claimed: any quantum contribution to this result, or that the figure transfers to a plant with a different grade structure.
Status: Platform network. Delivered through our platform network; classical optimisation; in production use; quoted with its published conditions.
